Widths of Posts in Tumblr

I'm a newbie at creating Tumblr posts, but I have some experience with CSS and HTML. I've been trying to code my own theme without avail, I have the basics, but I'm wondering how to make the width of the posts automatic, for like images. Because I've tried using 'auto', the posts just span the whole page, and I've tried using set widths, which is too big for some things. The code I have is linked below in a Pastebin file as I cannot for the life of me find out how to insert it here properly. Also, can anybody tell me how to get the 'posted x days ago' inside the post block not below it? http://pastebin.com/ax34f2zu

Try exploring some more CSS rules like max-width https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Web/CSS/max-width

To get the 'posted x days ago' within the block, just move this line {block:Date}{lang:Posted TimeAgo}{/block:Date} to inside your post div block, and style it appropriately.
